2008 witnessed the launch of India’s first mass health scheme targeted at the needy. Prior to this all mass schemes were for select group of people, eg. CGHS, ESIS, etc. RSBY began the concept of providing healthcare to those below poverty line. A flurry of schemes followed floated by individual states to address their population in need of tertiary healthcare. The 2018 witnessed worlds largest mass health scheme Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. Such huge schemes require multiple tiers of expertise – largely medicos where even the smallest decision has far reaching impact and needs deep medical insights.
